El Salvador – Customs Strike

The designated postal operator of El Salvador has advised that on Tuesday, 26 June, the staff of the National Customs Administration went on strike for an indefinite period. This action may affect mail processing and delivery, however there has been no impact on outward dispatches, which will continue to be sent as normal.

Brazil – Delays at Galeão International Airport

The designated postal operator of Brazil asks us to inform the designated operators of other Union member countries that, owing to security measures for the UN Rio+20 conference in Rio de Janeiro from 13 to 22 June 2012, which is being attended by a number of heads of state and of government, access to Galeão International Airport (GIG) is being strictly limited, particularly in the areas where mails are handled. All inward and outward dispatches passing through the BRRIOE office of exchange are therefore subject to delays.

New Zealand Post has advised that South Island deliveries, which had been affected by a snow storm since 6 June 2012, have resumed.

New Zealand Post has advised that South Island deliveries had been affected since 6 June 2012 due to a snow storm. Roads and mail centre are closed, causing product carryover.

Australia Post has advised that floods are impacting areas of Victoria. As a result, the delivery of postal items to the affected areas with postal codes: 3875, 3953, 3844, 3854, 3856, 3840, 3858, 3860, 3971, 3847, 3862 and 3851 may be delayed.

Italy – Earthquake
Poste Italiane has advised that collection and delivery of all postal items in the northern region of Italy i.e. Emilia Romagna, and in particular the cities of Bologna, Modena, Forlì, Reggio Emilia and Mantova (postcode areas: 41034, 41035, 41036, 41037, 41038, 42010, 42015, 42016, 42018, 42042, 42044, 42046 and 42047) will be affected due to an earthquake.

Venezuela (Bolivarian Rep) – Floods and Heavy Rains
IPOSTEL, the designated postal operator of Venezuela (Bolivarian Rep) has advised that a state of emergency has been declared in Táchira state since 2 April 2012 owing to heavy rains and floods which have disrupted access to the towns of Colón, Coloncito, Delicias, Independencia, La Fria, La Grita, La Tendida, Michelena, Palmira, Queniquea, Rubio, Seboruco, Tariba and Ureña.

On 21 May 2012 a state of emergency was also declared in the states of Zulia, Mérida, Trujillo, Nueva Esparta, Falcón, Miranda, Vargas and Distrito Capital for 90 days.

All postal items to these affected areas will be severely delayed.
